When a co-worker is belittled by a boss in a meeting, you can speak up on her behalf, reinforcing her performance. If a co-worker has been wronged, overlooked or verbally dismissed, it is a great time to stand with them. Sometimes, a colleague may need support and you can express your bravery by standing with them. Courage always involves choices which affect others, and which cause you to move forward or hold back-based on your discretion. You can demonstrate courage in a variety of ways, and not all of them are defined by self-motivated action. It is the idea of ‘embodied fortitude’-the demonstration of grit. These can get us started on a long journey or keep us going, demonstrating determination.
